Purpose: To provide IHE Educator Preparation leaders with an opportunity to explore NCDPI resources and reflect on the alignment of current educator preparation programs with various state-level education initiatives.

At the end of this meeting, participants will...
  • Know about NCDPI's efforts to align K-12 and Postsecondary initiatives and improve communications with IHEs.
  • Be able to locate electronic resources and reflect on the use of these resources in education preparation programs.
  • Understand the role of the Framework for 21st Century Learning and the N.C. Professional Teaching Standards in educator preparation programs as they support the mission of the N.C. State Board of Education and NCDPI's READY efforts.
  • Understand the relationship between the Teacher Candidate Evaluation Rubric, the Rubric for Evaluating North Carolina Teachers, and the LEA/IHE Certification of Teaching Capacity.
  • Be aware of the NCDPI's Educator Effectiveness efforts.
  • Understand the link between NCDPI initiatives and IHEs, including NC Teacher Preparation Quality Research, IHE Report Cards, and the future of program approval.
